On September 28th, students in our Dallas-area just keep livin Foundation programs got to experience a special treat, thanks to our partners the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Kids from Eastern Hills High School in Ft. Worth, L.G. Pinkston High School in Dallas, and Sam Houston High School in Arlington were brought to the Rangers Youth Ballpark for an afternoon of fitness and fun – complete with three-legged races, hula hoop games, and relay activites. In addition, the kids got to meet just keep livin Foundation founders, Camila and Matthew McConaughey, as well as their three adorable kids. The McConaughey family joined in the festivities, and then the group moved to the bleachers where Matthew chatted with the students about the importance of “doing it with pleasure.” This message, which is based on Matthew’s “quote of the month” for September, emphasized the fact that we all have things we don’t want to do, yet we have to do – chores, homework, working out, etc – and since we know these things have to be done eventually, we might as well tackle them right away (and maybe even hum a tune while doing so!) so that we can “create greenlights for ourselves later.” The kids shared their favorite parts of the just keep livin program, and had a great time getting to know Matthew and Camila. From there, the students were brought over to Globe Life Park where they watched the Rangers take on the Detroit Tigers, and even got to hang out on the field! A great time was had by all!
