Our just keep livin students at North East High School in Austin were thrilled to receive a donation that will help them succeed not only on the playing field but in the game of life, as well! One of our supporters, an author and motivational speaker, was going to be participating in a conference in Austin and wanted to tie in a charitable component to his conference participation. He came up with the idea of sending “sports equipment with a message” to jkl teens. He had the conference attendees write “life advice” and positive messages of encouragement and support on the football, basketballs and volleyballs. We were so touched by this creative and impactful donation!

Our JKL program at Fremont High School in Los Angeles is making a big splash this Spring by utilizing their indoor pool! Says JKL teacher Ms. Dill, “We did this for several reasons.
First, the JKL Monthly Quote for February highlights the virtue of courage, and for many of our kids in south central LA, swimming is not a skill in which they have much confidence in themselves. We wanted to give them the courage to try something new.
The second reason is that swimming and water survival skills are very important for everyone to know. If we can at least teach these students what to do if they fall into a pool or body of water, I would consider… Read More »
