On September 24th, just keep livin Foundation Advisory Board member, Robin Berman, generously hosted a fundraising event for our programs called “Mind Body Spirit.” As Robin herself said, “I wanted to show my friends what JKL is all about, so I decided to model the program for them. We worked out, ate a healthy breakfast, and ended with a gratitude circle. I wanted them to see firsthand the mind /body/ spirit aspect of just keep livin. The Dali Lama said, ‘My religion is simple, my religion is kindness.’ Matthew and Camila’s kind hearts have put so much goodness into the world, and my friends all left feeling inspired by this wonderfully kind organization.” The morning consisted of half an hour of Body By Simone dance cardio taught by the wonderful instructor Erica Hood, followed by thirty minutes of yoga led by the beloved Tom Morley of Maha Yoga. After working up a sweat in the Los Angeles sun, attendees quenched their thirst with delicious and healthy Suja juices. Perhaps the highlight of the event was when one of our local just keep livin students, Jackie from Hamilton High School, gave a moving and heartfelt speech about how much JKL has impacted her life. To close out the event, the group took part in a Gratitude Circle, which is one of the key components of our program. Each participant took a moment to tell the group what they are grateful for, and the outpouring of emotion that ensued was a great testament to the power of this activity! The nearly fifty attendees each left with a gift bag containing fabulous skincare products and gift certificates from Kate Somerville, as well as gift cards from Body By Simone and just keep livin swag! Thank you to Robin Berman for hosting this wonderful event, and thank you to all of the women who came out to help support our cause!
